Goran Bregovic
Balkan music
Born in Sarajevo in 1950, between 1974 and 1989 Goran Bregović formed and led the rock band Bijelo Dugme, which became the most popular and influential group ever to exist in the Balkans - for the record, this legendary group reformed in 2005 and continues to tour successfully…
In 1989, after this adventure, Goran turned his attention to composing music for the cinema: notably for films such as Emir Kusturića’s Time of the Gypsies, Arizona Dream and Underground, as well as Patrice Chéreau’s La Reine Margot.
From the 2000s onwards, Goran Bregović happily recorded several albums featuring artists from all walks of life such as Iggy Pop, Asaf Avidan, the Gipsy Kings and the late Cesária Évora, Scott Walker and Rachid Taha - in addition, Goran Bregović also produced successful albums for Polish singer Kayah and Turkish star Sezen Aksu.
The stage remains the center of Goran Bregović’s life!!!
